What is SWAN?

The Association of SWiss Academic Nutritionists (SWAN) is the professional interest group of academically trained nutritionists in Switzerland. It offers them a platform and a network.

What is the objective of SWAN?

The objective of SWAN is to strengthen and make visible the competencies and diverse professional fields of SWAN members in all nutrition-related areas.

How does SWAN achieve this objective?


SWAN members are contact persons for actors in all areas of society and politics regarding nutrition and health issues in the non-therapeutic area.
SWAN picks up trends and topics and comments on them.
SWAN participates in the social discourse with nutritional facts and contributes to ensuring that nutrition issues are dealt with on a solid scientific basis.

…SWAN offers a representation of professional interests, a platform and a network for academically trained nutritionists.

SWAN currently also represents the Swiss Local Group (VDOEregional) of the VDOE in Germany.

SWAN currently has...

…approximately 60 active members as well as many other interested parties from the fields of nutritional science, nutrition and dietetics, ecotrophology, food science, nutritional medicine or related fields of study with a degree / specialisation in nutrition.

SWAN-members…

SWAN is open to all professionals who, in addition to a completed main academic education in a natural science discipline, have acquired a specialization in nutritional sciences (at least 60 ECTS credits or equivalent continuing education).

Students in training can participate within the framework of a "Junior Membership", which, upon successful completion, is transferred to a regular membership.
